Q. “How can they suspend my drivers license for five (5) years, just for some tickets?!” A. “Here’s how easy it is to be classified as a ‘habitual traffic offender,’ and lose your license for five (5) years:” — Ft. Lauderdale criminal defense lawyer John M. Castellano

“This is how easy it is to become a so-called ‘habitual traffic offender, ‘ and lose your drivers license for five (5) years: Let’s say you miss your court date for a speeding ticket, as an example; and consequently, the Judge then issues what is called a D-6 which essentially suspends your drivers license … and then you’re thereafter caught driving on THAT particular ‘suspended DL’ — and then imagine a scenario wherein you’re convicted of that driving offense, this is the beginning of a downward spiral, toward a greater madness:

“This creates essentially one (1) strike against you. If this happens twice more in your life over a five year period — essentially giving you three (3) strikes — or three (3) distinct convictions for ‘driving (‘DWLS’) while license suspended, you’ll lose your license for that same five (5) year period, as the Department of Highway Safety and Motor (DHSMV) Vehicles in Tallahassee will classify you then as a ‘Habitual Traffic Offender.’ — Ft. Lauderdale criminal defense lawyer John Castellano

We know how to ensure that this does NOT happen to you, so please feel free to call me anytime at the office @ 954 766 8810. I would be privileged to help you and your family or friends with any of these issues, so don’t hesitate to call. I am,

Always there for you,
