Possibility of New Trial in Palm Beach DUI Manslaughter Case due to Juror Misconduct

Posted by:

I have been a Ft Lauderdale DUI lawyer and Broward DUI lawyer for many years now, and I have handled DUI Manslaughter cases too — but I do confess, as a Ft Lauderdale criminal defense lawyer (and even in my practice as a federal criminal defense lawyer) I have never had the “privilege” to represent a client who can post a seven ($7,000,000) million dollar appeal bond!

This “gentleman” from the “polo” world of privilege gets to hang out in his posh equestrian estate to finance and finesse his way out of serving his 16 year prison term, as we read about, below; and as to whether the “drunken” juror or his boozing ex-wives ought to be able to write books after the conviction of the rich guy, why not?

Everybody else is writing a book in these sensationalized media cases these days, as all the “players” did in the O.J. Case and every other highly publicized, celebrity mega-trial. Maybe this juror should have disclosed the fact that his ex wives had DUI convictions — and they were victims of crimes too; and maybe he deliberately concealed these facts to get on the jury in a famous case so he could thereafter write a book, who really knows; but one thing is certain, there’s a penalty for this deception — if the juror in fact deliberately deceived anyone rather than simply forgetting his history due to his earlier “stroke” as he says, and the punishment for any juror misconduct is typically a punishment for the juror and not a benefit to the fellow who got convicted, in this case maybe jailing the juror for “contempt of court,” rather than giving the convicted defendant a new trial … but YOU be the judge:,0,2990536.story
