Jury clears Ft. Lauderdale police officer in civil rights lawsuit

This is so sad, what happened to this old man — a military veteran of two wars, now confined to a wheel chair as a result of a wrongful arrest and what appears to have been a fairly clear case of “excessive force” … As a Ft. Lauderdale and South Florida criminal defense lawyer who routinely deals with constitutional rights violations, this seems so offensive — even if the police officer is an otherwise wonderful officer and a good, decent human being; and truth be told, we often never know the actual facts and real story surrounding these civil rights claims. Its seems I’m getting busier as a Ft. Lauderdale civil rights lawyer — and though nothing really shocks me when it comes to constitutional and civil rights violations, this one (and this verdict) is particularly disturbing:
