“Why,” you might ask, “if you’re a Ft. Lauderdale criminal defense lawyer, would you feel for this Orange County Deputy … ” (Orlando, Florida area) ” … who was arrested for DUI while still in uniform and driving a Sheriff’s Office vehicle?!” BECAUSE of what I do and who I am, that’s why, and for the same reason you ask this question so incredulously, seemingly perplexed as to why I would feel for the “opposition,” if you will. I’m a Florida criminal defense lawyer and a DUI lawyer and a Christian lawyer too, so as you might imagine, I have compassion for folks who are down and out and  judged and ostracized by others. 🙂
This deputy will be treated more harshly than most folks, as you might also imagine — folks screaming about hypocrisy and worried that he might somehow get preferential treatment because he is a police officer … Quite the contrary; they’ll go harder on him as a consequence of his position, and even harder still, since he was in uniform and driving a police vehicle.  As a DUI lawyer, I enjoy helping the frightened or hurting people who get jammed up legally — or I certainly do all I can to minimize their plight, and that’s why I feel for this arrested deputy:
